This morning did my mid-summer session at my CES site in Ashdod. Weather was appropriately hot and humid, and the mosquitoes enjoyed that very much. At dawn an Israeli Viper (Vipera palaestinae) slipped away from the wet grass into the water of my swamp - quite scary.
Ringing was quite OK, with good numbers of breeding species, including many juvs, and still some lingering migrants present. Local species included mainly Reed Warblers and House Sparrows, but also Syrian Woodpecker, White-throated Kingfisher, bulbul, Sardinian Warblers etc.
Migrants were mainly Blackcaps but also one Great Reed and one Barred Warbler.
